My Everyday Brushes

makeupbrushes

Happy Friday. The weekend is finally here. I get my boys on Sunday for two weeks this time and I can’t wait to see their cute and adorable faces. Need to start planning things to do with them while they’re here.

Anyways…Today I’m going to talk to you about my everyday brushes. These are brushes that I use constantly because I love them and I feel that they are amazing.

One // Beauty Blender – I use this to apply my foundation and concealer. This is a must have. If you don’t go get yourself one. Target has some if you don’t want to splurge on them. Before using it be sure to damp it with water otherwise your foundation is going to seep through the blender and not apply it to your face.

Two // LAB2 Blending Brush – I love this brush. I have tried other blending brushes but this one is so perfect.

Three // Real Techniques Setting Brush – Before I was using whatever brush I had that was small to apply my powder to set my concealer but this time I decided to get this brush because I’ve seen Nicole Guerriero use it and I needed to try it.

Four // LAB2 Blush Brush – If you like E.L.F you need to get this one because its so much better. I feel like it applies the blush to the apples of my cheeks so well.

Five // Real Techniques Sculpting Brush – I’ve used bronzer brushes (E.L.F) but I needed something better that would blend my bronzer so much better. This brush does that.

Six // LAB2 Eyeshadow Brush – Applies your eyeshadow on to your eyelids so smooth. It doesn’t leave any harsh lines.

Seven // E.L.F Complexion Brush – I use this mainly to apply my E.L.F HD Powder. It also blends everything.

What are some of your favorite everyday brushes?
  • Love this! I look at brushes and I have no idea what they’re for… Haha Will use this and see what I have at home..! Thanks πŸ™‚

    • I use to be the same way lol I didn’t know crap about them. You’re welcome πŸ™‚

  • Yes to the Beauty Blender and the Real Techniques brush! I have the original Beauty Blender but bought a version at Ulta that was $5 and I promise it works just as well!

  • Jiminey cricket I am behind on the brush game!
I’m curious, what do you use on your “apples” of your cheeks? I realize I never put anything there! Do you extend your blush into that area or use a highlighter or something?
How do you feel about the flat top blush brushes? That’s what I use..
My cheeks keep breaking out and Im currently trying to figure out if its something deeper with my health or If its my brushes or blush. Ugh being a girl is complicated!! Lol

    • Look at the image below, it tells you what the apples of your cheeks are. lol

      • Lol I know what the apples are. I meant what do “you” specifically put there.

  • I am so make-up retarded so excuse my ignorance. The sponge is only for liquid foundation/concealer, right? I try to stick with powder foundation because it feels lighter to me.

    • yes the beauty blender is for liquid foundation/concealers. lol

  • Popofstyle

The ELF brush really does work well! Thanks for sharing!

  • Jae

I currently own about two dozens of makeup brushes, but I have my favorites. I’d agree with you on using Beauty Blender/sponge (I got a dupe from Kohl’s!) for foundation and concealer, but if I needed more coverage, I grab my pointed foundation brush from RT’s Core Collection and blend it with my buffing brush. Not a pro, but it kind of works for me!

    • lol join the club. I have so many brushes and continue to buy more. #addiction

      • Jae

There’s a new set coming in the mail today… Hahaha!

  • Lindsay Katherine

I finally bought a beauty blender and I’m looking forward to using it. Thanks for the tip about wedding at first. I love my real techniques blending brush and elf fluffy concealer brush. Looking forward to trying a few of your favorites.

  • Erin @ Love Peace Beauty

I think I should get a beauty blender – thanks for the tips!

  • Shann Eva

Thanks for sharing. I need some new brushes…and still need to check out E.L.F.

    • elf is really reasonably priced makeup/brushes. Love it.

  • Gina Booton

This was a really helpful post. I never really know which make up brush to use. Thank you!

  • I love my Real Techniques brushes! I want to get some of their eye brushes. I’ve only tried their face brushes so far.

    • I do too. I need to get their metallic ones. They look so pretty and soft. lol

      • Those are the other two I have. I got the rose gold ones for contour and highlight. They are great. I want to try the others too eventually.

  • I am in LOVE with E.L.F studio line brushes. I also really love my Eco Tools brushes as well

    • i haven’t tried out Eco Tools. I’ll need to look at them.

  • I need to get a beauty blender. I’m working with a small flat foundation brush and it applies SO streaky!

    • You should have had that since yesterday lol I don’t like flat foundation brushes for those reasons. I feel like it doesn’t apply the foundation good.

  • Real Techniques is right up there with Sigma for me. LOVE.
I like this little peak into your makeup habits. It’s so funny how everyone has different preferences.

    • I need to get sigma brushes, i’ve heard good stuff about it.

  • My sister just gave me a bunch of brushes but I still don’t know how to properly use them, if there is a proper way. This helps!

    • lol there is no proper way to use them. You could use a elf blush brush for setting your powder, it all depends on what works best for you.

  • I love all of these!! Just got some new RT brushes today! And the beauty blender is a must have!! It really makes foundation look like perfection ??

  • I love all of these!! Just got some new RT brushes today! And the beauty blender is a must have!! It really makes foundation look like perfection ??

  • Love my beauty blender! I use a lot of E.L.F brushes for my eyeshadow and have a ecotools blending brush for bronzing that I just LOVE! I just ordered some new brushes from BH cosmetics because they are having a huge brush sale! Hooray!

    • I saw too bad I spend so much money on my vanity otherwise I would have gotten it asap. lol

  • Robyn Hinkle

I use all E.L.F. brushes, but I’ve never used that one. I’ll have to try it out!

  • Great tip about the Beauty Blender! I just bought one (It’s in my most recent blog post), and I couldn’t figure out why my makeup was soaking into the blender. You’re a life savor! LOL

    • lol Oh no. Yes you gotta wet the beauty blender before using it. Glad you came across my post.

  • Excellent tips. Now off to clean out my make up bag πŸ™‚

  • I need to check out these LAB2 brushes! I use a ton of RT brushes as well as Sephora and IT Cosmetics ones πŸ™‚

  • Great post and tips! I’ve been debating on getting new makeup brushes. I’ve had mine for probably 4 or 5 years at this point haha I also just bought a beauty blender and I’m not sure if this is a dumb question, but isn’t it pretty much the same thing as a normal makeup sponge? Maybe there’s some hidden magic in there that I don’t know about, but I’ve maybe used it 2-3 times and then went back to just using a normal sponge. I also don’t use sponges too often so maybe I just haven’t used it enough or don’t know how to use it haha

    • you’d be surprised how long brushes last. it depends on how well you treat them. beauty blender is like the white sponges but so much better.

  • did you get the new rt metallic brushes??
