Behind the Blog with Be Mindful, You're Creative

Introduce yourself and your blog

I’m a nature outdoors girl stuck in the desert, living the good life of manifesting my dreams! I started a new life 3.5 years ago and prior to that I was an uber creative in the Music & Fashion industries as a production artist and creative entrepreneur who built a performance art and production company from the ground up and rocked it for 7 years.

It didn’t allow me to show my true colors though, and I felt farther away from true soul than I ever had – even while: we were about to get signed to go on tour; I was about to launch my vocals career as a lead singer in the performance group; and had been more known across the nation to date! So I left, got back to my roots of athleticism, and here I am – a Holistic Health coach focusing on the Mind & Body through Aromatherapy & Ayruvedic Medicine helping both Children & Adults dig deep within to find their true strength of perseverance which allows to self heal & transform. I also incorporate Exercise Science, which has propelled me further in the wellness industry because just like physical therapists, there is a need for this type of expert.
The formulation of my blog “Be Mindful, You’re Creative” stems from my life long journey as a creative and implementing creativity as a lifestyle and mindset, rather than the typical affiliation of picking up a paintbrush and calling it creative. We are all creatives.

What inspired you to start a blog?

Since I was a little girl I have always expressed creative writing and held onto that into adulthood where I minored in Journalism, then carried that into recent years of editorial writing for print and online publications. I found that Editorial writing puts a damper on true creativity.
After many times of having my stories chopped up and puzzled together with pieces I didn’t even create, to have the end result only half of my words because they were “too abstract” … I left, and decided to independently write and voila – my blog was formed January of 2015.

What is your favorite thing about blogging and why?

I strive to bring education to the mass and less informed, less aware people. I believe everyone deserves to have education and knowledge – because knowledge is power. Without power, you’re left in the dark of the shadows of someone else. I force myself to have fun with it, when too much pressure is put into blog creation it shows through like sun rays on a squeaky clean window. And it doesn’t look good! In life, when you force anything – the universe will take it away. So I’m mindful of that, because I want to keep this passion and writing ability.

What is your dream vacation spot?

Outside the US: Italy! Or Spain. My ancestors are from Spain, but I’m more drawn to Italy. French and Italian are two languages I’ve studied (although really need to brush up on) and am most attracted to. It’s definitely a goal …

What do you like to do for fun?

Outdoors galore! Hiking, Biking, exploring, boating on the lake, camping, star gazing. Crafting – I have a Bachelors of Science in Fashion Design & Technology and used that education during my entire fashion career as a costume designer. Have you seen the movie Burlesque with Christina Aguilera & Cher? Yeah, those type of costumes.

Everything DIY, to jewelry making … and this is what led me to create a new business BOTANICA BODY! An herbal and therapeutic body-care line focused on the needs of the mind and body. This goes back to being a holistic health coach with Ayurvedic medicine. I’m obsessed with HERBALISM and its’ healing properties. It hasn’t fully launched yet, but I concoct remedies behind the scenes for some of my students if they need. It will be unveiled at some point in 2015. I’m not forcing it 🙂

What are your three popular posts you have written on your blog?

Everlast Antioxidant Smoothie

A Healthy Version of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Workout Wednesdays Styles with ADIDAS

What is your long term goal for your blog?

For it to be a one stop shop for education, a [better] shopping & services experience, & a place for natural resources.

I really enjoyed getting to know you better. I relate to you needing/finding a creative outlet as you entered adulthood. In high school, I considered majoring in journalism and still to this day wonder what my life would be like if I had.

  • I love you Jasmine thank you for the love. I’m humbled ???

Great to meet you! That is amazing you are doing what you love now. It’s hard to get to that point. I love editorial work but I have to agree, it’s not very creative. I love being creative. I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to do with my life. Hahaha. I’m going back to school at the moment to get a degree in English- which is my true passion. You are right, it’s never too late to start something or dream a new dream! 🙂
