As an engaged woman, I swear there is nothing better than planning your wedding. And while it’s important to enjoy some blissful time as a newly engaged couple, the tasks of actually planning and preparing for a wedding start quite quickly. There’s the dress, the invitations, the bachelorette party, the shower… and don’t forget about your registry!
Lately, I have been deciding where I wanted to register and what items to include in our registry. When thinking about where I wanted to register, a few things kept coming to mind when planning our wedding registry. Now when it comes to your wedding registry, there are some definite do’s and don’ts. At the end of the day, you want to make the gifting process as easy as possible for your guests, so that they can focus on your big day instead of what they’ll buy for you. Set A Maximum Amount Per Item – When picking the items for your registry please be cautious and mindful that not everyone can be ballers and splurge on your gift. You want to give your guests options that not only in their price range but also things you will use and love at home.
Create Categories – You want to create categories in your registry when it comes to your home. For example bedroom, bathroom, decorations, living room, kitchen, etc. This will help your wedding guests know what items you are wanting based on your categories. This also keeps things organized not only for you but for guests.
Register For Items You ONLY NEED! – Do not go finger crazy and adding items you “THINK” you want. Instead think wisely by creating a checklist and add the items you know you will use at home. For me, going around my apartment and just seeing what I need and wish I had are items that I will be adding to our registry.
Encourage to Shop Online – Let’s be honest here, a lot of people already shop online. So we decided to use Zola Wedding Registry as our way to let our wedding guests know that this is where we are registered. It’s a great way for those who can’t attend but are still able to send you a gift by mail.
Another thing you want to do once you have received your gifts is send them a Thank You note. Even if it’s a message or personally thank them in person. That way they know you loved their gift.
