In the summer is sometimes hard for me to wear makeup because it’s either SUPER HOT or my oily skin is just uncontrollable. I have used many setting sprays and I have noticed that only a few actually quite work AMAZING for me. When it comes to setting sprays there are two things I look for in them and that is; oil-control and waterproof.
My Top 6 Makeup Setting Sprays for Summer
Before I get started on telling you about my top 6 makeup setting sprays for the summer, I will share this:
- I always use a mattifying primer before applying my foundation.
- I use the setting spray after I have applied my primer after I have applied my setting powder and one last time once I am done with my makeup.
Doing this helps my oily skin stay in control but to also make sure the makeup stays in place throughout the day.
I received this a few months ago in a PR package and I must say, I was impressed with the quality of the product. I definitely use this as it states, prep, set and refresh. Which is basically my 3 step system. Although it doesn’t indicate that it controls oils, I have noticed that when I use this setting spray, it definitely helps my oily skin stay matte throughout the day.
This setting mist is an air-powered spray. It literally feels like you’re misting yourself when you use it. It helps to make sure your makeup doesn’t crease, melt or look cakey while giving you a radiant finish. I actually have 2 of these, one for myself and one for my clients.
It’s a water-based primer mist that helps prep your skin while also smoothing and mattifying it. Although it states that it’s a primer you can actually use this as a setting spray as well. On top of controlling your oily skin, it’s enriched with purified water, cucumber, and vitamins B and E to refresh and hydrate skin.
I have restocked this product so many times since I first tried it last year. I freaking love this setting spray. I think it’s because of the rosewater scent in it but also because it helps with oily skin and ensuring the makeup stays in place. It makes sure your makeup doesn’t melt at all. Because this is a high-end product, I only purchased a travel size because I didn’t want to spend money on a whole bottle if it wasn’t going to do its thing. But to my surprise, this is a good setting spray. It’s weightless so you don’t feel it on your skin at all.
I ran out of this about 2 weeks ago before I got the travel size in the Born to Run collection so I was pretty happy I didn’t have to go out and get a new one. I will say that Urban Decay De-Slick was the first high-end setting spray I ever bought and tried. So when they launched their All Nighter, I was impressed by the product. It’s freaking waterproof. I put this bad boy to the true test on Saturday when we did our engagement photos. I was sweaty and my makeup looked so good throughout the whole session.
