Recently I got a hair change. I got a cut and did a baylage to my hair. It was much needed since I wanted to add dimension and color to it. With having color back in my hair, this summer I definitely need to find ways to protect my hair from the sun. Did you know that if your hair is exposed to the sun for prolonged it can actually cause dry brittle strands, discoloration, split ends, frizziness and thinning? Crazy who knew! I sure didn’t. With that being said, I am sharing 4 tips and tricks that you can do to protect your hair this summer.
4 Tips to Protect Your Hair in the Summer
Use Hair Products That Contain SPF – There are a few hair products that you can use that contains SPF. This will help your hair stay protected from the suns UV rays. If you don’t have any on hand, the majority of the time, you can use sunscreen on your hair.
Trick #1: Just rub the sunscreen between your hand to warm it up and then apply it over your hair.
Trick #2: Use natural oils like a raspberry seed, avocado, olive or coconut oil.
Wear a Hat – This is why they have beach hats. Great for not only protecting your face but for your hair too. Hats will make your scalp, hair, and skin very happy, while simultaneously keeping you cooler by creating shade.
Avoid Styling Tools – As much as I love to use styling tools, in the summer I definitely love to avoid using them. Using the styling tools too much and exposing your hair to the sun, can definitely dry out your hair, thin your hair and damage it.
Take Biotin – I have been taking daily doses of the Nature Made® Biotin Adult Gummies. They are a great-tasting, easy way to consume biotin which may help support healthy hair, skin, and nails in those who are biotin deficient .†‡ I do love the fact that they are gummies vs pills. Nature Made® Biotin Adult Gummies provides 3000 mcg of biotin and they are USP verified for potency, purity, and quality. You can easily find these NEW Nature Made® Biotin Adult Gummies at your local Walmart in the health section.
