We’re back from our 5-day Caribbean Cruise with Carnival Sunrise. We took our sons plus our nephew on this trip and although there were some windy situations the trip was so much fun for all of us.

5 Day Caribbean Cruise

Let’s talk about our itinerary and where we went, what we did and ate. We were only on the ship for a total of 5 days. Just like my previous mentions about cruises, there are a lot of things for everyone to do. Of course, every ship has different things to offer.

We were on the Carnival Sunrise. This ship has a “SportsSquare” which has a ropes course, pool tables, foosball, basketball, and mini golf. Please keep in that the images that you see on their website with all the activities they have don’t mean that the ship you are booking has it.

It does have a waterpark with 2 slides + mini slides for smaller kids and 2 pool areas. They do have the Serenity section for adults over 21+ as well. Carnival Sunrise was so much more different than Carnival Spirit which is the last ship we cruised on.

For this trip, we booked a suite and it did come with a balcony. This was perfect for us 5 since we needed all the space we could get. However, for future trips, we will be booking connecting rooms so the kids can have their own space and so can we!

Because we had a suite, we did get priority status for this trip. We were able to embark on our cruise early and surpass the crazy lines. We also got 2 complimentary large bottles of water, priority dinner reservations, bathrobes in our suite, and priority debarkation.

ITINERARY:

  • Day 1: Embarkation (Miami, FL)
    • We were able to embark at 10:30 am. The cruise sailed at 5:30 pm. We unpacked, ate food, and got ready for dinner because of how crazy the morning was. We didn’t do much on this day. You can WATCH MINI VLOG.
  • Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas
    • We had an excursion day. We went to Blue Lagoon Beach which is a private beach and this is where you can also book to interact with sea lions, dolphins, sting rays, and sharks. We opted for just the beach day. We were provided lunch. Which is your basic hot dogs, burgers, bbq chicken, rice, french fries, and other side dishes. The beach water was quite chilly. But we had fun and we got to see dolphins. End of the night Brian and I attended a few shows our favorite one was Love & Marriage.  WATCH MINI VLOG
  • Day 3: Half Moon Cays (Bahamas) turned to Sea Day
    • We ended up not being able to get off the ship on this day because of the wind and the Bahamian officials said it wasn’t safe for the water shuttles to travel. We tried to make the best of our sea day. Brian and I did our own thing while the 3 boys did their own thing as well. They made some friends on the ship, which was nice.
  • Day 4: Grand Turks (Turks & Caicos)
    • We were so happy when we arrived 3 hours earlier than the scheduled time for this port day. We also got to leave a little later from this port.  Grand Turk is our favorite port. The beach is so pretty and clear. Although the wind was making the waves super rocky we had so much fun with it. We got beautiful weather too.  We opted to stay on the beach and eat at the local restaurant that we’d eaten before when we came to Grand Turks. End of the night we ended up going to a show (I can’t remember what it was called) but it was so much fun. WATCH MINI VLOG
  • Day 5: Sea Day
    • This day was our last day so we kept it pretty chill. We tried to lay out and catch some rays but the wind was so insane. My swimsuit cover + sandals went missing (ended up finding it on the other side of the deck). People’s drinks went flying around. It was terrible. So we spent most of our day inside.
  • Day 6: Disembarkation (Miami, FL)
    • We had to be off the ship by 9:30 am. We ate breakfast and we checked out by 8 am. The only thing I wish we would’ve done was get on an earlier flight. Carnival provides shuttles to the airport (must pay for them). So we didn’t have to worry about Uber/Lyft.

Although we had some windy days, we did have fun. We love cruising with Carnival. We are hoping to book Carnival Celebration or Royal Caribbean for next year. Brian and I do have an adult only cruise coming up in September with Virgin Voyages which is our first adult only cruise. Stay tuned for that.
