COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made Foundation

COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made Foundation

COVERGIRL has been stepping up their game when it comes to makeup. They created 40 different foundation shades to ensure you will find YOUR match. I was NOT expecting to get this package from them at all. So when I saw this arrive, I was so excited to give this a try. Two things that got me excited to try out the foundation was that it came with SO MANY different shades and it’s a mattifying foundation.

It seems like when FENTY BEAUTY and MAKE UP FOREVER came out with 40 different foundations, COVERGIRL took a hint that’s what customers wanted. There’s been plenty of times where foundations didn’t match my skin tone. Either it was a bit too dark or too light, so I would have to mix another shade color so I can try and match my skin tone. It’s even harder as a makeup artist.

Did you know that COVERGIRL is the first drugstore brand to launch these many foundations. They wanted this product to be totally exclusive and be wearable across all skin tones.

The NEW foundation line is a matte formula that won’t leave you looking cakey or dry. COVERGIRL claims that the foundation is good for 12 hours, minimizes pores, oil control, transfer resistant while giving you a flawless finish. TruBlend Matte Made’s formula is developed with flexi-hold technology that creates a strong, yet flexible film on the skin for durability and comfort.

Each shade in the TruBlend Matte Made foundation collection comes with 4 different shade range, numbered from light to deep: Light (L), Medium (M), Tan (T), and Deep (D). On top of those four shade ranges, there are warm, cool and neutral undertones in each name so that you can find your perfect match from there. Another thing about the new foundation is that it comes with a pump dispenser. It’s by far my favorite type of dispense.

Finding My Shade

Because I’m quite tan right now I am currently shade T15 (Golden Honey). But most likely in the fall/winter, I will be in the Medium higher range.

If you’re wondering how you can search for your perfect shade, you want to select whether you’re; Light, Medium, Tan or Dark. From there you start from the lightest shade range by drawing a vertical line of the foundation covering your neck and cheek. When you can’t see the foundation line, you have found your perfect shade. This is how I test foundation shades for myself and clients.

Along with the foundations, COVERGIRL also launched 4 NEW TruBlend primers; Color Neutralizing, Pore-Minimizing, Skin Smoothing and Illuminating. My two favorite primers are the Skin Smoothing and Pore-Minimizing.

REVIEW

Here is my honest opinion/review of the foundation.

At first, I tried it and I didn’t like the way it looked on my skin. I’m pretty sure it had to do with the primer I used with it and it was applied with a denser beauty blender.

I tried a second time but this time, I used it with the pore-minimizing + skin smoothing primers along with thee e.l.f cosmetics blending sponge since it’s lighter and this time I loved how the foundation looked on my skin. The foundation is light on the skin, medium coverage but it’s buildable, and your skin does stay matte. As far as wear test, personally I don’t like to wear foundation for more than 6-8 hours so during that time, I didn’t notice any break apart and my skin wasn’t getting oily.

I would definitely recommend this foundation. As far as price range, they’re both $8.49 each. So I’d say that’s a good price for a drugstore foundation.
