e.l.f Cosmetics recently launched a new collection and it’s called Modern Metals. When I received the package I was very excited to see how this collection would be. What makes this collection so much different than their other collection is that they selected a few influencers to create a cohesive bundle of products that would work well together, so that you’re able to create multiple looks and it was inspired by the city of New Orleans.
This collection includes Modern Metals 10 piece eyeshadow palette, Modern Metals Blush and Highlight palette, Modern Metals Liquid Matte Lipstick and Modern Metals Lip Gloss. You are able to buy the collection as a bundle or separately. Don’t be fooled or scared by the name Modern Metals because none of the products are overwhelming metallics.
The eyeshadow palette looks beautiful. I love the variety of colors you get. Modern Metals palette includes 5 metallic shades and 5 matte shades. You can definitely create different looks with this palette and all the colors are so versatile so you won’t have issues blending the colors with one another. You can use the metallic shades with your brush (wet or dry) and with your finger. Personally, for me, I love to apply metallic shades with my finger because it works best that way. The matte shades are very powdery just like their other palettes. You do get fall out when applying it out but it blends out so easily. All the colors on the palette are pigmented which is a plus for me. One thing I do wish they did was to add names to their eyeshadow palettes.
I was completely shocked by how freaking amazing and pigmented this palette was. I have never been a fan of any of the e.l.f Cosmetics blush or highlighters before. I always thought they were blah but this palette is a MUST-HAVE! The colors in this blush and highlight palette not only work with light skin but with all skin tones. Which is another issue for me when I get blush palettes. I am pretty tan so the colors worked beautifully on my skin. In the palette, it includes 3 matte blushes and 3 shimmery highlighters. The shimmer highlighting powder has a microfine shimmer to blur lines and create a soft focus glow on the skin. Both the blush and highlighters are made with primer in the powder’s formula to help them apply smoothly and maximize wear time.
I’m still unsure how I feel about the liquid matte lipstick. It almost feels super dry on the lips. I am not a fan of that because I have dry lips as is. Also, the lip gloss is a bit too sticky for my liking. So I have to say these were a MISS for me.
I do love the color of the lipstick but I was sad how drying it was. They sort of remind me of the ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks and I have a few of them and haven’t used them in a very long time.
