Go-To Hair Products for Hair Extensions

Go-To Hair Products for Hair Extensions

Let’s talk hair extensions today and what products to use. I’ve been wearing hair extensions for 10 years now. Every brand of hair extensions is so different from one another. Weird because you figure all “fake” hair is the same but they’re not. If you’re someone who has hair extensions like myself, then this post is going to be useful. When you get hair extensions you have to be careful with the hair product you decide to use. All products have to be “sulfate-free”. And although there are many brands out there creating products that are sulfate-free, I can honestly say not all hair products are going to feel good on your hair extensions.

I have rounded up my favorite shampoo + conditioner, dry shampoo, oils, hair spray and heat protectors that work with my hair extensions and I highly recommend because I love how they keep my hair and hair extensions feeling soft, shiny and beautiful.

Biotera Ultra Color Care Shampoo + Conditioner

I have actually talked about this brand before on the blog and on my Instagram. I have been using this shampoo + conditioner ever since I got the balayage done. With having the balayage and colored hair extensions I have to make sure that I am taking care of my hair color. It promotes long-lasting color retention and deep hydration for very dry and damaged hair. I love how this shampoo + conditioner smells, how it makes my hair feel and how vibrant my hair color stays.

Sexy Hair Long Sexy Hair Luxurious Shampoo + Conditioner

Another favorite shampoo + conditioner that I love to use and have been using ever since I finished the Biotera products, is the Sexy Hair shampoo + conditioner. What I love the most about these two products is that it’s meant for long hair and hair extensions. It helps provide softness, shine, and hydration to extensions and long hair.

Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Hair Mask

Not only does your hair need to be revived from any hot styling tools you use on them but so does your hair extensions. I freaking LOVE this hair mask. You can read more about the hair mask here and here. I like to use this once every 2 weeks to give my hair and hair extensions more hydration. It makes the hair feel so soft and silky. Plus it smells so good.

Sexy Hair Luxe Detangler

In order to avoid pulling on your hair extensions, I highly recommend getting this detangler. After I wash my hair and towel dry it, I part my hair in sections and spray the detangler. Leave in for 5 minutes and my brush glides smoothly through the hair. Without pulling.

Styling Tool Heat Protectors

I can’t express this enough, you should ALWAYS use a heat protector on your hair (and extensions) no matter what. When I am going to blow dry my hair I love to use this blow drying heat protector. It’s a weightless primer that provides up to 68% reduction in breakage when you apply it prior to blow drying your hair.

Once I am done with blow drying I go ahead and use a flat iron because I have naturally curly hair so my hair has to be flat iron after blow drying it. Another favorite product I love to use before using the flat iron is this hot tool heat protector. It provides 78% reduction in breakage and gives your hair softness and shine for smooth.

Styling Products

I have a variety of styling products that I love to use. Unite U Argan Oil is one of my favorite hair oils to use after I am done with straightening my hair. It gives my hair moisture, instant shine and it’s lightweight. My hair extension stylist actually recommended this to me because hair extensions need oil for hydration.

If I am curling my hair (which is all the time) there are 2 hair products that I use and that is the Unite Texturiza Dry Finishing Spray and OGX Bodifying + Fiber Full Big Hair Spray. These two hair styling products are going to give your hair texture and ensure your curls stay in place.

Lastly is the Drybar Dry Shampoo. My hair usually doesn’t get oily and dirty until day 4/5. So if I need a refresher, I am using the Drybar Dry Shampoo. I love how it smells and makes my hair clean.

Styling Tools

Here are a few of my favorite styling tools. I have been using these styling tools for more than 3+ years now and I wouldn’t change it. Favorite blow dryer, favorite flat iron, favorite curling wand, and hairbrush.

I am testing out a few new products that were sent to me a couple of days ago so I can’t wait to share that with you guys. But I didn’t want to include them in this list because I love to test out products for 2 weeks or more before I give my honest opinion on them.

Aaaah Yes! This post is helpful, extensions can be expensive and the right or wrong products can make or break them. That’s why I am saving this post. The Biotera looks pretty promising.

    • Exactly. Not taking care of them by using the proper hair products, will cost you more money in the end.
