Makeup Brushes for Beginners

One of my most asked questions is “What are your favorite brushes?” and to be honest I have quite a few favorites. This is why I have a collection of makeup brushes. You probably have heard of the saying “your makeup is only as good as your tools“. And this is true. Without the makeup brushes that I use, my makeup application wouldn’t be as good. Using makeup brushes makes a whole difference in your makeup application.

I will be the first to admit, that there are a lot of makeup brushes and that can be intimidating. But I am here to help you feel at ease when it comes to the brushes you will need in your makeup application game.

Face Brushes:

Foundation Brush – It’s used for applying liquid or cream foundation to the face, for seamless coverage. Great for building up coverage on the skin and works well with all skin types.

Concealer Brush – It’s used to apply liquid concealer to the under-eye. It helps blend out the concealer for an airbrush finish.

Powder Brush – It’s used to set your foundation/cream products. I like to use 2 different brushes for this because 1 is a smaller brush head to get under the eyes and the bigger one for the rest of the face.

Bronzer/Contour Brush – It’s used to apply your bronzer and to powder contour.

Blush/Highlight Brush – It’s used to apply your blush and highlight.

Eye Brushes:

Blending Brush – It’s used to apply the eyeshadow to the crease. When I first started out I got the e.l.f. Cosmetics Fluffy Eye Brush and it was amazing. So for an affordable option that is a great one to start off with. Here are some of my other favorites:

Eyeshadow Brush – This brush is used specifically to apply shimmers and metallics to your eyelids. My go-to brush is a blue one I got in my Boxycharm Box. I use the Morphe Oval Brush in my makeup kit on clients. I love it. But another good is the Sigma Beauty E54 brush.

Eyeliner Brush – If you are someone who likes to use gel eyeliner. The Sigma Beauty E06 is hands down the best for applying eyeliner.

I hope you found my post helpful. You really do not need so many brushes when it comes to doing your makeup.
