Sometimes Valentine’s Day can’t be easy to plan when you have kids. You either have to find a sitter to make plans for the two of you and if you can’t find a sitter you have to pretty much celebrate Valentine’s Day on another day. But did you know that you can still have a fun and romantic night on this special day with your kids?
Because Brian and I have the kids and Valentine’s Day tends to fall during the weekdays sometimes, I have come up with some at home Valentine’s Day Date Ideas for Parents. We have done a few of these at home and it’s always fun.

10 Valentine’s Day Date Ideas for Parents
Wine or Tasting – Go to the store and grab a few bottles of wine that you haven’t tried, grab some delicious cheese, sweets, or fruit. When the kids are asleep, spend that time tasting the wine and just having that special moment for yourselves.
Beer Tasting – If your man (or yourself) prefer beer over wine, make some pizza and taste any beers you haven’t tried.
Cook Dinner Together – Come up with a meal that you two will enjoy, cook that dinner together while drinking some wine. Since my kids can be picky this could be a great time to make them something different they will like and we can have what we want. But be sure to make something easy and quick for the kids.
Movie Night – Put the kids to be at an earlier time. Pop some popcorn, grab your favorite blankets, light some candles and watch your favorite movies together. Some movies ideas:
- Something Borrowed
- The Best of Me
- The Notebook
- Fifty Shades of Grey
- Pretty Women
- The Vow
- Dear John
Board Games – Play any games you have in your closet or video games. We love playing Yahtzee! It’s always a fun way to get competitive with one another.
Indoor Picnic – This would be fun to do if you live in a state that is cold during this day. Place a blanket on the floor, grab plates, wine glasses, some bread, fruit, cheese and make the best of it.
Fondue Night – For me, I have a chocolate fondue machine so this would be perfect to grab fruit and dip in the chocolate. But if you prefer having a cheese fondue that works too.
Order Take Out – If you’re not a fan of cooking, you can always take out from your favorite place. Just be sure to take the food out of the containers, place the food onto pretty plates, light up some candles and bam, romantic dinner for 2!
Recreate Your First Date at Home – Even if you went out on your first date, it’s always fun to be creative and recreate the first time you went out together.
Paint Night – Go to the store and purchase some paint and 2 canvas. Paint something for each other. Great memory keepsake.
